The frog decided to see the ocean and went to Rio de Janeiro! Winner of the gold trophy in the El Ojo Festival, LiveFrog is a game that integrates virtual characters into a real-world setting, transmitted live. The goal is to help a group of likable frogs to cross a busy avenue. In São Paulo version the challenge is in the free way of Pinheiros’ river. Now, with the new version of LiveFrog, the frog crosses the Lauro Sodré avenue, in Rio de Janeiro. The frog is digital, but the setting and hurdles are quite real! Created by Ogilvy for Allianz, the game was developed by 14bits in association with Animatorio, and carries first class illustrations and animations. How it works: a camera installed on the roof of a building by the freeway captures the images, which are sent via streaming to a network of servers and then distributed to users accessing the game in Facebook. In the game, programming based on motion detection and pattern recognition algorithms analyses the vehicles’ movement to determine whether the frog got away or was run over. This technology allowed for unprecedented integration between the game and the live video. All this results in totally unpredictable and unrepeatable game dynamics, which change with time of day and traffic conditions in the city. The game runs inside Facebook and allows you, to compare your performance with your friends’ in a ranked listing or with all players, besides to goal archievements.
